Guide and Moral Code
1. The name of our School, given by our ancestors, is the Taiwanese Martial Arts School “Shun Wu Tang.”
2. The purpose of the School is to teach and promote Taiwanese Kung Fu, to strengthen the Spirit of Martial Arts, and to help students develop both a strong mind and excellent physical condition.
3. Training at the School aims to cultivate intelligence, kindness, and courage in students, teaching them to use both their hands and their minds, with an emphasis on a balanced use of Body and Spirit.
4. Developed by our Ancestors and passed down through generations, the study of Shaolin Kung Fu techniques is founded on the “18 Hands of Luo Han Quan,” complemented by the study of Qin Na, Shuai Jiao, Tai Ji Quan, Qi Gong, and techniques from other Styles and Schools. The four main styles are Da Zun, Tai Zu, Bai He, and Luo Han Quan.
5. Anyone, regardless of gender or nationality, who loves Chinese Martial Arts may join the School as a disciple, after paying respect to the Ancestors and proving themselves at the initiation ceremony.
6. All recognized disciples are required to respect the rules of the School and to take part in its activities.
7. The ranking system used is that determined by the International Federation of Taiwan.
8. Any student recognized as Second Degree is allowed to teach, but only with prior approval from Grand Master Su Jin Miao and the technical council. They may then open their own Guan and teach the Art of Shun Wu Tang to their own students as a Zhu Jiao.
9. All established Schools must be clearly identified under the name “Shun Wu Tang.” The name of the School must never be misused by any member of the Family, nor associated with illegal acts. Any student who violates this rule will be expelled by the council, handed over to the authorities, and brought to justice.
10. All members of the School must respect the following Code:
• Strictly follow the rules of the School, respect your Shifu and their teaching. Disobedience and arrogance towards your seniors will not be tolerated.
• Do not show your Martial Arts techniques or pass on your knowledge without permission. Boasting or showing off is considered shameful by your Shifu and by the School. Remember that learning has no limits — you must train regularly, persist, and never give up halfway.
• You study Martial Arts to cultivate your Body and Mind, and to defend yourself and your Family. Therefore, you must learn to master hot temper and recklessness. Commit yourself to being chivalrous, compassionate, and generous.
• You must show love and respect to your fellow students as Brothers and Sisters; treat each other with kindness and trust; do not mistreat or intimidate the weak. Be filial to your parents, respectful to elders, and protective of the young. Do not abuse your power, whether physical or official.
• A Martial Arts practitioner must avoid frivolous pleasures, harmful amusements, or bad habits that weaken, obstruct, or diminish their martial strength and energy.
Take this to heart, and you will be rewarded with great results.
