How to prepare for the classes?

Guidelines, advice and agreements:

At Shun Wu Tang Center, we aim to foster a respectful, safe, and inspiring environment where each student can develop their skills and character. The following guidelines help support your well-being and ensure a positive experience for everyone.

1. Before Class

Please arrive on time — ideally at least 5 minutes early — to settle in and prepare mentally and physically.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows free movement suitable for martial arts practice.

Running shoes are required, especially as classes may include outdoor training in the woods when weather permits.

Bring a backpack to carry essential items such as a sweater and a water bottle to stay warm and hydrated.

It is advised to avoid heavy meals at least two hours before class. If needed, eating a small, light snack is recommended to maintain energy.

The wearing of jewelry during training is strictly forbidden, as it poses a risk of injury.

2. During Class

Practice with mindfulness, self-awareness, and respect for your own limits. Avoid overexertion or injury.

Maintain silence during instruction and practice to help create a focused and harmonious atmosphere.

Questions are welcome, but please hold them until the end of class or when the instructor invites them.

Using the phone during class is not permitted.

Once the opening greeting has been performed and until the closing greeting, all movement within the training space—including going to drink water—should be done by running, never walking.

Approach the practice space and your training with respect for the teacher, fellow students, and the Kung Fu tradition.

If you arrive late, please enter quietly and stand in Ma Bu (Horse Stance) next to the door. Remain in this position until the instructor permits you to join the class. This practice helps cultivate discipline and respect for the group and the training process. Always position yourself so the instructor can observe you clearly.

3. Participation and Health

Participation is voluntary and at your own risk. If you have concerns about whether Kung Fu training is suitable for your health, please consult a medical professional before joining.

Inform the instructor privately of any injuries, medical conditions, or allergies that may affect your practice.

While every effort is made to ensure safety, Shun Wu Tang Center cannot be held liable for injuries or discomfort occurring during or after class.

Please be mindful of natural terrain during outdoor training. Watch your footing and dress appropriately for the weather.

It is strictly forbidden to fight or use the techniques learned during classes and workshops on another person, except in cases of legitimate self-defense. In such cases, the response must be proportionate to the attack, in accordance with the laws. The student must also inform their Shi Fu of the incident within 24 hours, failure to do so will result in permanent exclusion from the school.

4. Personal Belongings and Cleanliness

Keep your belongings with you or stored securely in the training area or outdoors during practice.

Help us maintain a clean and orderly space by taking care of your belongings and leaving the training area as you found it.

If you make the training room dirty during class, it is your responsibility to clean up before leaving.

Please ensure your training shoes are clean before entering indoor practice spaces.

Shun Wu Tang Center is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal items before, during, or after classes.

5. Community and Practice

Wearing the official uniform becomes mandatory during trainings after three months of practice.

All skill levels are welcome — whether you are a beginner or experienced. Progress occurs at each person’s own pace.

Consistent attendance supports your growth and benefits the group. Please notify the instructor if you are unable to attend regularly.

Recording or photographing during class is prohibited unless explicitly authorized by the instructor.

The instructor reserves the right to adjust, pause, or stop any activity for safety or instructional reasons.

New students are welcome. Please register in advance or contact the instructor for trial classes.

We uphold the values of discipline, humility, respect, and mutual support — the heart of the Shun Wu Tang Kung Fu tradition.

We thank you for your dedication and respectful presence.

Let us walk this path together with sincerity, focus, and joy — cultivating strength, wisdom, and harmony in body and mind.
